How or where do you get a job when you’re 58 & considered “TOO OLD” by the Whippersnappers!?

I used to own a motorcycle shop and figured that I would retire in that business and be set for life but then the landlady decided she wanted to collect insurance and renovate so she burned it down. Since then I moved to the Desert and my health is WAY better now and I had a heart operation last year and I started a real estate sign POST business that WILL be doing well when the real estate market improves but I have been putting in resumes everywhere and it seems that all of the younger people are getting the jobs. What is there left for us “old people”? I can type like a fiend and I’m good with computers and I’ve got a good brain, and I’m a good salesman but no one seems to care. HELP!!!?
(I never considered this happening … people should be OLD first and then become younger so that they can use their knowledge when they’re able. I’ve been looking at these “work from home” jobs on the internet but they all seem to be scams. I live in the Palm Springs, CA area if that helps)
Dang … I didn’t know tht word would date me so much. My Hell’s Angel customers in my old motorcycle shop used to call people whippersnappers, it was just a biker term that meant “newbies” or “smart alecs”. I always thought it was a “cute” term so I use it from time to time just by the by. Makes me want to grab my bumbershoot and go out on the town.
JjS … I didn’t work on bikes myself. I ran the store and made sure the bikes were done on time and handled the advertising and printed & designed the mailing list and sold parts up front and paid the employees who worked with me and built the business from doing $50k per year to $250k per year. We even beat the Honda dealership for sales in ONE month … I really loved it but it would cost a fortune to build another one now with all the new EPA rules and laws and govt restrictions.
Vince … I shoulda bought a WATER TRUCK when I first moved here. Seems that they are in the biggest demand and the pay is good. There’s a dust law around here ever since a couple died of dust inhalation so all the dirt roads and building projects have to be dampened to prevent dust.

People here aren’t old … the average age in Palm Springs is 77 but most people live to 100 or more … the Desert seems to be very good for health purposes. I should start a grocery delivery biz to supply the seniors eh? Not sure how to advertise it though. I’ve got my thinking cap on but I think it needs new batteries.
